4 December 2018, Hong Kong: A press conference was held at Olympic House today to share details of the Cathay Pacific 2018 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards (Awards). Mr. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation), Mr. Paul LOO, Chief Customer & Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific, Title Sponsor of the Awards, Mr. WONG Yau Kuen Henry, Chief Leisure Manager (Sports Funding) of Leisure & Cultural Services of Leisure and Cultural Services Department; Mr. Ronnie WONG, JP, Hon Secretary General of the Federation and Ms. Vivien LAU, BBS, JP, Vice President of the Federation cum Chairperson of Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards Organizing Committee were present to officiate.

Medallists from the 18^th Asian Games were present at the event, including TSENG Tak Hin Eric (Bowling), SHEK Wai Hung (Gymnastics) and LAU Mo Sheung Grace (Karate) to show their support to the Awards.

Officiating VIPs, together with the athletes, unveiled key dates of the Awards, as follows:-

President FOK said: “After the Asian Games, the Federation has further expanded the collaboration with Cathay Pacific. We are most honoured to have Cathay Pacific to be our new Title Sponsor of the Awards. Hand in hand we give acclamation to our athletes who attained great achievements in the world stage and to recognise and applaud their efforts through this ‘Hong Kong Sports Stars Oscars’.”

Mr. Paul LOO, Cathay Pacific Chief Customer & Commercial Officer, said: “As Hong Kong’s home airline we are very proud of the achievements of our Hong Kong athletes. To encourage the public’s involvement and active participation in the Awards, the Federation will  organize public voting via dedicated website. Details of public voting will be announced at the Public Voting Announcement Press Conference on Sunday, 20 January 2019 at D‧Park. Sports reporters from local media organizations will also be invited to vote for their favourite athletes.

The results of the Awards will be announced at the Awards Presentation Ceremony cum Annual Dinner of the Federation on Tuesday, 26 March 2019 at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
